Don’t just turn the pages
Slow down mummy, there is no need to rush,
slow down mummy, what is all the fuss?
Slow down mummy, make yourself a cup tea.
Slow down mummy, come and spend some time with me.
Slow down mummy, let’s put our boots on and go out for a walk,
let’s kick at piles of leaves, and smile and laugh and talk.
Slow down mummy, you look ever so tired,
come sit and snuggle under the duvet and rest with me a while.
Slow down mummy, those dirty dishes can wait,
slow down mummy, let’s have some fun, let’s bake a cake!
Slow down mummy I know you work a lot,
but sometimes mummy, its nice when you just stop.
Sit with us a minute,
& listen to our day,
spend a cherished moment,
because our childhood is not here to stay!
Poem by Rebekah knight
This is my all time favorite poem that essays much more than I can personally do. We want it all and hence we sometimes fail on not someone else’s parameters but our own. Those goals which are supernaturally higher and unrealizable for many. While we know that in the end it doesn’t matter who won the rat race or how many sharks came out alive, all that matters is who lived a life and who just rushed through the chapters in it !! Whether its living for our little ones who will grow in no time or it is being with our elders who will fade away with time, we aren’t doing either of them. Superwoman image within is not letting us do what our heart secretly desires to.
Let me share a story that almost each woman can relate to, a feeling that has been ours sometime or the other. Here I steal this opportunity to introduce you to an exceptional writing which is purely an inspiration from the robotic lives that we end up living. Keep reading it will here any time today J
